Stone Age Iron Man!

So this was an art challenge for an event I attend called Drink and draw. The idea- to take a current/modern character and put them into a pre-bronze age setting. This is what I came up with.

The New York Comic Convention was a blast, got to meet alot of people and some friends I haven't seen for awhile. Here's one sketch I did for my friend George P., Yoko from the Gurren Lagann animation series. Hope to see everyone again at a table next year!'

Thunder,Thunder,THUNDERCATS HOOOOO!

Yeah, loved me some Thundercats. Mostly I loved that opening animation...still holds up I think. I have to say I wasn't overly excited about the news of the Thundercats update, until I heard they got Studio 4C to animate it...now I'm kinda super hyped, at least for the animation...I hope the stories can hold their own, WB track record has been pretty good so far, so I'll give them some slack.
Anyways, here was an old redesign I did of Lion-O a while back that I'm posting in accordance with the WB news.

LIFE DRAWING

I finally got the chance to get some life drawing in, it's been way to long and it shows. It was just great to get the pencils/graphite out and do some gesture drawings(not shown) and do the ol' 1,5,10 and 20 minute poses. Of course these were done at a drink and draw aka bar, some of those poses I probably spent more minutes drinking rather than drawing....I will strive to draw more the next one...although I wouldn't hold my breath on that.

PROFESSOR X

My idea for Professor X, didn't Forge make himself a brand spanking NEW cybernetic leg and arm? I'm sure he could slap something together for the good Professor, I mean I think even Honda did something like this!

ICEMAN

OK, this one was done more as a goof, using his first appearance 'look', I went with that premise, I figure he encases himself in ice which he can manipulate and afford him some outside protect...that and I thought it'd be fun....the scarf and Top Hat I admit maybe went too far.

MARVEL GIRL

Well now it's Marvel Girl aka Jean Grey. I was thinking of her costume just before she went Phoenix, with the green and yellow skirt, so I gave her a longer skirt and added the hood, which is more Rouge but I thought what the heck.

THE BEAST

Yup more X-men for now, just a quick Beast sketch, I gave him some retro biker shorts and went with a shorter hair style, I was thinking of the original pre-furry beast when I did this one.

WOLVERINE!

Continuing my X-men kick I did a quick Wolverine sketch...yay!

Cyclops Armored

With nothing to show these past few weeks I have finally broken down and put something together. A version of Cyclops in an armored suit, thinking it would be to Scott Summers benefit to don a power suit to fly through the air and deliver Optic Blasts from above!

PRINCESS YUM YUM...and tack

I loved Thief and the cobbler by Richard Williams, it was done before CGI and I say that because there are moments which you would think could only be done with a computer and the fact that they were hand drawn will blow you away. Make sure to see the recobbled version if possible, well worth it.
I also highly recommend Williams book on animation, a treasure trove of goodness whether you animate or not.
I drew Princess Yum Yum in a more damsel in distress way which is quite the opposite of how she was in the film. She's quite the independent gal. But at the end, Tack steps it up a notch and kind of sweeps her off her feet, so that's more where this one was coming from.

CRONA

So I've been catching Soul Eater when I can(the few nights I stay up late) and I could never figure out if the character of Crona was a boy or girl until finally in one episode Medusa(the mother of Crona) calls Crona her Daughter. So with that particular episodes subtitles I am running with and aging Crona up into a woman. Just cause I wanted to do a quick sketch of something other than a BG!

Ok, perhaps it's not that exciting, but it was fun...I suppose I'll have to take a break from the SD stuff and get back to real art....then again when did I ever do 'real' art...*sigh*
